Leveling up in Greater Fay is fun... but not very profitable.  Sure, many people will tell you they made 2-5 platinum before hitting level 20, but they are the lucky ones.  Not to mention, 2-5 platinum is peanuts.  If you are serious about earning plenty of platinum and keeping your characters equipped in the finest gear, then you need to head to Qeynos!

Run your Level One Fae to Qeynos

**Note:  You can hit level 4-5 quickly near nursery, running at level 1 is difficult**

From the nursery head south along the path.  Sticking to paths is usually the best plan.  Most mobs don't cross paths or walk paths.  As long as you stick to the center and keep your eyes open, you are likely to survive.  If you haven't already, then stop now and download the EQ2 Map Updater here: EQ2Interface  It's an essential tool for any respectable LootRunner.  Path splits, continue South through Echo Echo Canyon (the yellow splotch on Map A). spacer
spacer Once you pass through Sapling Spur the path splits, go West (Path is easy to miss, it's right after Sapling Spur and there is a road sign).  Shortly after path forks again, go SouthWest (North takes you up to Orc Hill - you won't survive long at level 1).  Watch for next fork in the path, go South East to the elevator lift to Kelethin.  Take the lift up to Kelethin.
Once in Kelethin go West to next platformGo West again, the next platformGo South to the middle platform.  From there go NorthWest to next platform (Fae Royal Court Platform).  Jump off this platform to the NorthWest, on the ground you should see the City Register's Office, and a horse merchant nearby.  On Map B above, look for the red arrow (that should be you), very close to your goal of Butcher Block. spacer
Here's the tricky part:  You should be at the location shown on Map B.  Butcher Block is to the North North West.  Level 9 Saplings, level 9 Bears, and level 6 Spiders block your passage to the ButcherBlock Zone in.  Take your time, survey the situation.  Then, when you are ready - hit sprint and run run run!  I had to run directly over a level 6 spider to get out.  If you die, you will end up back at the nursery...unless you did the citizenship quest in Kelethin.  It would be easier at level 4 or 5. **Looks like Saplings are non-aggro now, this is much easier.**
Congratulations, you are in Butcher Block!  This zone isn't too bad.  Just head SW to the docks.  Avoid anything that hates you (Red Outline, don't confuse with Red Con - many Red Con Mobs will not attack you).  Your goal is to get near the docks before dying.  If you die close to the docks you can revive directly on the docks.  If you die too early, you will probably revive in a protected dwarven camp, which is less than half-way through the journey.  Tip:  Run naked!  Yep, that's right, strip down to avoid damaging your gear if you die.  Nothing you are wearing will help you survive an attack from a mob 20 levels above you anyway. spacer

Experienced players can skip to the bottom from here.

Take the boat to Thundering Steppes.  You've done the hard parts, the rest is easy.  Head West from the docks.  Look to the North for the pass.  Follow the path North West around the crater.  Follow the path shown on Map E through Thundering Steppes to Antonica.  If your gear is damaged there is a mender on the Thundering Steppes dock.

Once in Antonica run North to the Griffin Tower.  Take a griffin ride to 'Qeynos Gate Station'.

From the Qeynos Gate Griffin tower, run South.  Cross bridge, then hug the right to follow path down to pier.  Take the bell to Nettleville - Congratulations, you crossed the world!

Important points to keep in mind:

  1. You cannot get a room in Qeynos with your Fae.
  2. To get the best prices for your loot, you must have a character with a room.
  3. You can mail all items except 'Lore' and 'No-Trade' to another character for selling.
  4. You are now ready to rake in the PLATINUM!
