The Siskiyou Crest is a strip
of ridgeline atop the Siskiyou Mountains running east / west at approximately the
California / Oregon border from Pilot Rock / Mt. Ashland area toward the Pacific Coast.
The first known human use of the crest and surrounding areas were travel, camping, hunting and gathering. This was true for native Americans, as well as, explorers and then settlers. The historic record is sparse, so this is my attempt at creating and preserving that record for posterity. A Concerted Effort to Lock Up the Crest From Multiple Use and Historic Family Use Some background into a proposal to lock up the crest and surrounding areas from public travel and enjoyment. Under the proposal, historically productive and recreational lands would have severe limits and restrictions placed on them to satisfy the environmental and political elite and their cohorts who devise schemes to bilk millions of taxpayer dollars in grant funds and donations from unwitting supporters of 'save the earth' causes. Over the years, I have enjoyed the visiting the area that surrounds the area of the Siskiyou Crest. -Brian Petersen My Story... Tell your story... |
