Product: BASF Integrated Durability-Sustainability Wizard by BASF Corporation WINNER

Booth: S10139
Online Resource for Developing Sustainability Specification for Concrete Construction

Description: The BASF Integrated Durability-Sustainability Wizard utilizes project information to provide recommendations on concrete admixture products and technologies that address specific code durability requirements and sustainability requirements. The Wizard is a versatile, user-friendly Microsoft Excel-based tool with a wide number of useful features. Users input information such as exposure conditions and simple details describing the project or structure. The Wizard then provides useful design outputs that include concrete mixture parameters that meet code requirements, options for on-demand CSI-format specification generation and sustainable concrete technologies that can help maximize LEED points.

Concrete producers and concrete contractors can use the “BIDS” Wizard to work with architects, engineers, specifiers and owners during the planning and design phases of concrete structures. The “BIDS” Wizard is an easy-to-use electronic resource to obtain code requirements for concrete based on a few simple inputs.

Engineers, producers and contractors can use the “BIDS” Wizard to generate specifications. Based on inputs, a specification document is automatically prepared in the industry standard format. Engineers than can easily copy and paste the standard into the project specifications. The “BIDS” Wizard also has a “LEED Calculator” that generates documentation for concrete mixtures in the required formats for LEED projects, promoting easy submittal of the information. Finally, the “BIDS” Wizard provides very copious amounts of information on how concrete technologies can foster sustainable construction. User can learn how to earn LEED credit options that can potentially contribute to the project. The Wizard uses videos, web links, and other educational resources to instruct engineers, producers and contractors on and other benefits of the technology that promote sustainable concrete construction.

Product: CRT 60-66K Hydraulic Ride-on Trowel by Wacker Neuson Corporation
Booth: O31708
3 New Design Innovations Makes this Powerful Ride-on Trowel Perfect for Large Project

Description: The CRT 60-66K is the industry’s first ride-on trowel that combines the high performance of a hydraulic drive unit with an electro-hydraulic steering system. This new design makes operation more comfortable and the trowel more responsive to the operator’s commands. The fully hydraulic drive unit offers exceptionally high rotor speed for extra finishing power making the CRT 60-66K the ideal machine for large jobs.

The CRT 60-66K has three new patent-pending innovations. First the new two mode steering system allows the operators to select the response of the joysticks to meet their preference and best suit the concrete conditions.

The second patent-pending feature is the engine power regulation system. Similar to an automatic transmission on a car, a computer controller constantly monitors the engine speed ands adjust hydraulic load. The power regulation allows the trowel to seamlessly run at optimal engine and blade speed for maximum input to the concrete.

A third patent-pending feature is a built-in hydraulic wheel kit. This feature enables the operator to easily raise the machine on the front and back wheels. For the first time, operators can change blades or install pans without the need of a forklift or crane, making this task a one-person job.  The wheels also make it easier for movement around areas of the job site and the shop.  There is also an exclusive electronic cruise control provides a more consistent speed. The speed is easily set when the operator simply holds the pedal at the required speed and tapping the button to set.

Product: Trimble Field Link for Structures by Trimble Building Construction   EDITORS' CHOICE WINNER
Booth: C4851
Linking BIM with Real Time Job Site Information

Description: Trimble’s Field Link for Structures enables contractors to more effectively integrate with new and more advanced BIM workflows, improve field reporting, and expand their field PC platforms. Trimble Field Link runs on a Trimble Tablet PC Windows 7 Operating System with WIFI and Bluetooth. This platform lets contractors communicate information quickly, accurately, and remotely. Trimble Field Link is unique to the industry and offers capabilities that no other product can offer today.

To take advantage of BIM, Trimble Field Link can accept field layout data directly from a variety of BIM software tools. Field crews can use Trimble Field Link’s 3D model viewer to navigate and visualize the 3D model in the field to verify design intent and identify potential conflict.

The Field Link improves reports from the job site with two features. The system incorporates simple and unique reports such as the Field Report and the Daily Layout with which managers can monitor a project’s status in real time.

The Field Report is very robust. For example, users can supplement RFI's, communicate safety issues, and complement inspection procedures. Staff can also quickly update a project’s status by submitting a text description, area photos of the area, and a total station measurement position to identify the location in the model.

The Daily Layout Summary is a calendar based report to very accurately report field layout productivity in points/hr, points/day, and % accuracy based on user defined tolerance.  This report can be used to look at historical data but can also be a valuable predictor of future capability.
