Programs for High School and College Students

The Education Programs Office (EPO) offers multiple internship programs to high school, undergraduate, and graduate students who are interested in exploring the career possibilities at NASA.  EPO programs encourage academic achievement and provide valuable on-the-job training and exposure to a variety of career fields directly related to NASA’s technical workforce.

High School Internship Programs

Career Exploration Program, HS
Students work part-time at Johnson Space Center during their senior year in high school and the summer following graduation and provide much needed support to JSC.

High School Aerospace Scholars (HAS)
Scholars complete 10 web-based lessons during their senior year that include a variety of exciting and challenging activities. If selected, scholars attend a six-day summer session at JSC where they work alongside NASA mentors and gain valuable hands-on experience.

College Internship Programs

Career Exploration Program, College
Students complete a year-long internship with a one year option and receive on-the-job training and exposure to a variety of NASA career fields.

CEP Short-term Appointments
Students are paired with a JSC Mentor and work on-site for 15-weeks during the spring and fall semesters or 10-weeks during the summer.

Texas Aerospace Scholars Interns
Students in academic disciplines relevant to NASA’s mission are selected for a 15-week hands-on internship at the NASA Johnson Space Center.

Community College Aerospace Scholars
Community College students engage in web-based activities and on-site experiences at NASA JSC that are designed to encourage students to enter careers in science and engineering.
