About A Course in Miracles

spacer

spacer A Course in Miracles is a practical guide to healing. Healing is a gift we would receive on the path of learning perfect mind.

A Course in Miracles (also referred to as ACIM or the Course) is a self-study curriculum which aims to assist its readers in achieving spiritual transformation. The book describes a non-dualistic philosophy of forgiveness and includes what are meant to be practical lessons and applications for the practice of forgiveness in one's daily life. Unlike traditional characterizations, the Course defines forgiveness as a recognition that sins carry no effects and that forgiveness is a way to "bridge the gap" between "perception and the truth". The Course further defines sin as "lack of love" and the mistaken belief that the Son of God could actually be separate from the state of perfect Oneness, typically referred to as Heaven or God. — wikipedia.com

Nothing real can be threatened.
Nothing unreal exists.
Herein lies the peace of God.

This is how A Course in Miracles begins. It makes a fundamental distinction between the real and the unreal; between knowledge and perception. Knowledge is truth, under one law, the law of love or God. Truth is unalterable, eternal and unambiguous. It can be unrecognized, but it cannot be changed. It applies to everything that God created, and only what He created is real. It is beyond learning because it is beyond time and process. It has no opposite; no beginning and no end. It merely is.

The world of perception, on the other hand, is the world of time, of change, of beginnings and endings. It is based on interpretation, not on facts. It is the world of birth and death, founded on the belief in scarcity, loss, separation and death. It is learned rather than given, selective in its perceptual emphases, unstable in its functioning, and inaccurate in its interpretations.

From knowledge and perception respectively, two distinct thought systems arise which are opposite in every respect. In the realm of knowledge no thoughts exist apart from God, because God and His Creation share one Will. The world of perception, however, is made by the belief in opposites and separate wills, in perpetual conflict with each other and with God. What perception sees and hears appears to be real because it permits into awareness only what conforms to the wishes of the perceiver. This leads to a world of illusions, a world which needs constant defense precisely because it is not real.

ACIM is the curriculum that heals the thirst and hunger of the mind and body, cures the scar and the illness. It is a complete lecture on life dynamics.

ACIM is a self-study book. It requires practice and demonstration of what you learn day by day. This practice re-patterns your thought system and sense of values. Students will obtain a new point of view about life and this world, gaining clarity about what is reality and what is not.

ACIM is not a religion. It does not have a founder, organization, hierarchy, or rituals. As is clearly stated in ACIM, there is no one-and-only way. There is no rule or model. However, ACIM gives you a clear new thought system and a workbook of 365 lessons as well as a textbook and teacher’s manual from which to learn it. To accept and demonstrate this thought system requires commitment and faith, as do many other spiritual and religious practices.

ACIM is psychology and psychotherapy. The ACIM therapist realizes that both therapist and his/her client are a part of the perfect mind of the universe, which is knowledge itself and power almighty, and they have freedom to know it. With this awareness they are able to reach any seed thought that may be causing problems at once.

The practice of ACIM is always done in relationships.

Those who learn ACIM reach the point where messages from the perfect mind of the universe are received. It can be called psychic ability. However, the source of messages is strictly one. ACIM clearly warns that if you have any intuitive sense that something threatens anyone, it is not a message from the perfect mind but rather from ego’s fear, which tries to control and seeks magic not miracles.

ACIM is a complete collection of messages from the perfect mind of the universe intended to help you to remember who you are and to express who you are.
