Lambic Blending Seminar

Posted by hilda on March 13, 2012

spacer In West Flanders, brew masters often blend old (oude) and young (jong) lambic beers to create a final product sold to the public.

Join Artisanal Imports and Powered by Yeast at Bazi on Saturday, March 24 at 4 PM to taste and experience how the addition of a very sour beer into a more mild beer changes the character. Participants will get to sample six (6) different lambic blends all while learning about the history and characteristics of this style of beer.

Inevitably, beer enthusiasts will find a balance that suits them, whether it’s a strong percentage of young beer or 100% sour. Everyone is dfferent!

Seminar will last approximately 1 hour. Tickets are $20 with limited space. Reservations are available by calling 503-234-888 or email bazibierbrasserie@gmail.com

Fat Tuesday: Beware of the Flying Orange

Posted by hilda on February 21, 2012

spacer New Orleans is the #1 spot for Carnival, but did you know that Binche, Belgium holds the #2 spot? I guess if you’ve been partying since the 16th century, longevity counts for something. But you won’t get beads here, instead they throw oranges. So to honor Shrove Tuesday (Fat Tuesday) we ask you to enter Bazi with caution. If an orange gets thrown at you and you catch it, you can choose any one item at half price. Now that’s a throw you won’t want to miss.
