It’s been a mild winter, which means it’s an especially good time to start thinking about spring planting. A great place to start is the Seattle Tilth’s March Edible Plant Sale at Magnuson Park. You’ll find locally grown veggies, herbs, edible flowers, fruit shrubs, fruit trees, seeds, supplies and knowledge galore.

We’re especially excited to have author and Bagley Elementary school librarian, Rick Swann, autograph copies of his new children’s book, OUR SCHOOL GARDEN!, published by READERS to EATERS. Rick will be signing from 10:00 am to noon. Be sure to come and say hello and tell us about your school or community garden!

Mark your calendar! This is gonna be fun! A conversation with chefs & authors Barton Seaver and Becky Selengut (on.fb.me/n64kLy)

We’re so happy to partner with Slow Food Seattle to host Seattle chef and author Becky Selengut (GOOD FISH: Sustainable Seafood Recipes from the Pacific Coast) and Washington DC chef, National Geographic Fellow, and author Barton Seaver (FOR COD AND COUNTRY) for a great evening conversation on sustainable seafood. Jill Lightener of edibleSEATTLE will be our host.

We’ll peek between the pages of Barton’s and Becky’s books, scroll through their blogs, posts, tweets and watch their videos for tips on choosing, cooking and eating seafood without worry. You will have the great satisfaction of knowing that your seafood is both delicious and sustainable. Have a question? Bring it along as this is the night to get it answered.

Tickets are $12 if purchased in advance; if space remains on the day of the event, tickets will be $15 at the door. Includes reception to follow in the BPH lobby. Tickets and book sales benefit Slow Food Seattle. More info @ bit.ly/oYWRLw
