  • RCRF Profile: Rosa Sanchez, Mission 180

    Rosa Sanchez is originally from the Dominican Republic, attended college in Puerto Rico, went on to live in New York and Los Angeles, but ultimately decided to raise her children on the east coast.  After raising her children in Boston she traveled the country once more, but once again returned this last year to the organization and area that first welcomed her to Boston 30 years ago.

    La Alianza is a community based organization in Roxbury providing health and education programs to the Latino community of greater Boston. 30 years ago she was a teacher for the literacy program.  She now returned to La Alianza as the Community Outreach Coordinator.  “La Alianza to me is home.”  “It’s not just a job, it’s an opportunity.”

  • RCRF Profile: Daniel Willis, Millennium Ten

    You could sit with Daniel Willis for hours listening to all he has to say, and would enjoy doing so.  During his life, he has seen the world through a variety of perspectives, some very extreme.  “I’ve been everything; a student, employed, a bum, you name it.” 

    Willis received a Master’s degree in Counseling from Boston University and an Ed. D. in Organizational Psychology from UMASS with a dissertation on empowerment, a topic Willis clearly cares about. “I don’t buy into the ‘I can’t’ mentality… people can feel stuck and fall back on ‘I can’t because...’”

  • RCRF Profile: Lincoln Larmond, Mattapan United

    Lincoln Larmond is one of Mattapan United’s most active members.  He is an active resident of Mattapan and brings a unique collection of life experiences to draw upon in his dedicated involvement.  Originally from Jamaica, Larmond spent a good part of his life traveling across the country, including three years in Japan while in the Marine Corps.  When he made Massachusetts his home, he worked at a residential treatment center for youth for 16 years, thriving in a variety of roles - from a mentor and instructor to director and speaking at conferences about best practices for engaging families. During this time he acquired a Masters in Management from Emanuel College.
