About Brett Butterstein
I live in sunny San Diego with my wife Mandy and my two sons, Bailey and Taylor. We are in the North County of San Diego in Encinitas where we enjoy the community, surf culture, amazing climate and lovely beaches. I grew up in upstate New York, studied film and photography at Montana State University and spent five years as a newspaper photographer in Montana, New Mexico and Colorado. I earned several awards with the National Press Photographers Association and the Associated Press including AP photo of the month.
Since 2005, I’ve been photographing weddings full time, traveling a lot, teaching workshops and working passionately to be among the best destination wedding photographers.
There are so many reasons why I choose to be a wedding photographer. I enjoy the relationships, adventures, celebrations and even challenges, but making photographs for people who care deeply about photography is an incredibly rewarding process.
