In a move aimed at delivering superior rolling support for conveyer belts, a global leader in conveyor technology has introduced a new return roller. The new design is a track-mounted, pivoting, return-side idler that allows service and replacement from one side of the conveyor. The EVO^® Return Roller’s track-mounted assembly uses one-pin quick change functionality to make service fast and easy. As a result, the roll can be replaced by one person in much less time, with greatly minimized injury risk.

Reed Mining Events has announced that due to “overwhelming demand” from the industry, its flagship AIMEX - Asia-Pacific’s International Mining Exhibition - will return to the Sydney Showground, Sydney Olympic Park, August 20-23, 2013. AIMEX, which has been held every four years since the 1970s, is the largest mining exhibition in the Asia-Pacific region. The previous edition in September 2011 broke all records; attracting 17,382 visits and 638 exhibitors over four days - cementing its status as the single most important mining event in the Asia-Pacific region.

Outotec holds an exclusive rights agreement to provide process development, sales, and lifecycle support of the well proven technology from Swiss Tower Mills Minerals (STM) in the minerals processing industry. England’s last working slate mine, which diversified into tourism to stay in business, is now in the running to be named best tourism experience in the country. The Via Ferrata Experience at Honister slate mine in the Lake District, has been shortlisted as the country’s Best Tourism Experience in the national Enjoy England Awards 2012, to be revealed in Leicester on May 22. Via Ferrata (Iron Way in Latin) takes place high on the crags of the spectacular 650 m Fleetwith Pike, in the Borrowdale Valley near Keswick.

MDM Engineering has been awarded the EPCM implementation for the replacement of Foskor’s D-Bank flotation plant at Phalaborwa, in the Limpopo province, South Africa. Founded in 1951, Foskor’s Mining Division in Phalaborwa mines phosphate rock, from which Foskor’s Acid Division in Richards Bay produces phosphoric acid and phosphate-based granular fertilisers for local and international markets.

Krohne, which describes itself as “a global technology leader in the development, manufacture and distribution of accurate, reliable and cost effective measuring instruments for the process industries”, has introduced the new OPTIFLEX 1100 C level meter for liquids and solids in non-explosive environments. The OPTIFLEX 1100 C offers a “cost-effective and higher performing replacement for traditional level meters such as RF capacitance, conductive and pressure level meters.”
