New Beachwood Sparks track to be featured on Sub Pop sampler

On April 21, a.k.a Record Store Day, Sub Pop Records will release a new promo sampler that will feature a new Beachwood Sparks song called Forget the Song. This will be the first new Beachwood Sparks song to be released since June 4 2002!

The new Beachwood Sparks album gets title and first “review”

Uncut writer John Mulvey has given us some new information on the forthcoming Beachwood Sparks album on his blog and Twitter feed:

1. The album will be titled The Tarnished Gold
2. It will be released on SubPop
3. It will sound “kind of nice” and like a “sunny morning”

That’s alright with me.

Beachwood Sparks to play Huichica Music Festival

Beachwood Sparks just announced that they will be playing the Huichica Music Festival that takes place in Sonoma, California on June 1st and 2nd.

The festival is arranged by wine producer Jeff Bundschu (on which property the festival is being held) and Fruit Bats front man Eric D. Johnsson.

Other artists performing at the festival are Little Wings, Paper Cuts, Sonny and the Sunsets and Sea of Bees.

Beachwood Sparks hope to have new album out by summer, guest spots by Ariel Pink and Neal Casal

As we’ve reported earlier Beachwood Sparks have recorded new music. We got in touch with Farmer Dave Scher who revealed some interesting facts about the new record. The album will hopefully be out before summer and will feature the classic Beachwood Sparks line up of Chris Gunst, Brent Rademaker, Farmer Dave Scher and Aaron Sperske, with additional help from Ariel Pink and Neal Casal among others.

This brand new Beachwood Sparks song was performed last Saturday at a backyard gig in Silverlake, CA. It’s a lovely little jangle gem that certainly reminds us of why the world really needs a new Beachwood Sparks album!

The Tyde covers Primal Scream

The Tyde is featured on a new covers compilation called C44 put together “to celebrate the twentieth birthday of French monthly magazine Magic, Revue Pop Moderne.

Darren Rademaker and Co. contributes with a spectoresque version of Primal Scream’s Leaves taken from the Scottish band’s jangly debut LP Sonic Flower Groove. The track was recorded by Farmer Dave Scher and features vocals by Piper Kaplan of Puro Instinct fame.
