The eCAADe organisation

eCAADe (Education and research in Computer Aided Architectural Design in Europe) was founded in 1983. eCAADe is a non-profit making association of institutions and individuals with a common interest in promoting good practice and sharing information in relation to the application of computational technologies in research and education for architecture and related professions.

To further the general aims of the promotion of exchange and collaboration, eCAADe sets out to:

  • create an international information network about CAAD activities;
  • promote the exchange of staff and students between schools that undertake research and teaching in CAAD;
  • foster the creation of closer relations between education, research and practice;
  • establish contact with governmental, international and professional organisations and agencies.

The organisation has an annual conference that is hosted by a different member University each year.

The Organisation has an Administrative Council that is charged with ensuring that the organisation operates effectively and maintains its efforts to meet the aims of the organisation, mentioned above, as efficiently as possible. The Administrative Council has a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and members charged with specific tasks. The Administrative Council meets formally twice a year.

Formal administration of membership, finances and so on is managed on a daily basis by the Secretariat, that is based at one of the member Universities, currently theย  Department of Architecture Sint-Lucas Brussels/Ghent, Brussels. Contact details for the Secretariat are:
