About

The author

Bobby van der Sluis works as a designer/developer at Refunk in Amsterdam. Occasionally he has a genius moment when he takes his morning shower. In even rarer moments he decides to recollect these ideas for an article on his personal website or an online magazine.

In Bobby's schedule the time needed to fulfill his big bucket full of ideas/ambitions is greater than the time granted by a happy family/social life, a busy job and the time needed to keep the body fit. Life is all about choices and focus. One of the main reasons why he doesn't publish that often.

This website

"Progress means simplifying, not complicating" (Bruno Munari) tells the story behind the visual style of this website: minimalistic in order to keep things clear.

The concept behind the homepage of this website is that it reflects its RSS feed in a visual form (printed poster style). Until now not many people have noticed this, so that's why that information is here, for the really inquisitive.

From a technical point of view the homepage was an experiment to see what could be achieved with floats. Well, they are not exactly like the good old tables, but for now we have to work with them.

All photographs were taken on the lovely Caribbean island of Sint Maarten (a.k.a. Sint Martin), which Bobby has visited a few times in the recent years. He was fortunate to meet a lot of fantastic and inspiring local people on the island. If you have the chance, go visit the island for a holiday (keep an eye on the hurricane season though).

It is all about the content: Articles about Web design and Web production. While this is not a weblog, any questions or remarks, don't hesitate to use the contact form to give feedback.
