Moroccan oil is extracted from the Argan tree (Argania spinosa), a Mediterranean endemic species found in the semi-arid regions of southwestern Morocco through to Tindouf in Algeria. Other projects are underway to plant more Argan trees, creating new employment opportunities for the local communities and a helping to meet the growing demand for this amazing resource.
