Is this footage from an old issue of 411? I remember having seen it before somewhere. Nowadays I suppose most skaters are good at switch, but Kalis back then… I remember being in awe of the tricks that he did switch.
And apropos of Love Park: I really liked that one issue of On Video about it, that talked about how skateboarders had made the park what it was then and that interviewed that old city planner who had drawn the park. What is the likelihood of any material akin to that of On surfacing on this fine blog?
Damn. Such a sick time in skateboarding. Kalis inspired a lot of heads around that time, myself included.
big shurt, belly out everytime much gay love from me
On top of his game.
Dude is a legend.
From Love park, to the art institute, to Barcelona, to the present day, Kalis is and always will be a definitive street skateboarder. In my book, regardless of what aesthetic you prefer these days, Kalis transcends all the bullshit and remains one of the last few street skateboarders with his heart in the game. Seeing this only makes that all the more clear. Thanks guys!!
respect.
last trick says it ALL
Here’s a piece of skateboarding history from the good ol days:
