When was the last time you played in public?
Come Out & Play is a festival dedicated to street games. It is three days of play, talks, and celebration, all focused on new types of games and play.
When
The festival will run from September 22-24, 2006. Games will occur throughout the day in locations around the city. See the schedule of games for more details about events.
Where
While games will run in locations around the city, the festival headquarters will be hosted by the Eyebeam Art & Technology Center, located at Eyebeam at 540 W. 21st Street, New York, NY. Stop by the headquarters during the festival for information and to see game updates.

Thanks to Nokia for sharing some space on the Reuters screen during their Manhattan Story Mashup. Must have worked, cause New York certainly seemed amped to play.

And so the weekend comes to an end.
So the 2006 Come Out & Play Festival has come to a close. What a great weekend it was. We had 25 amazing games played across the city; three days of great weather; over 600 players; and tons and tons of fun.
We had a wonderful time and really hope you did too!
You can already begin to see some of the documentation online. Check out the growing photos on Flickr:

If you’ve got photos upload them and tag them so everyone can see.
Check back here over the next couple of days. We had some truly incredible volunteers documenting the festival, Amanda Berhsohn, Guy Chan and Dillon deGive who shot tons pictures and footage. We’ll start posting it soon. So you will be able to check out any of the games you missed.
Also, comment on the games you played. Share stories about playing in the games. Let us know what you liked, what could use improvement. This festival is about community. Cause if you don’t have fun, we don’t have fun.

Human Risk Canceled
Unfortunately, Human Risk will not be running this afternoon. If you had been planning to play Human Risk, you can still come to Washington Square Park and check out Payphone Warriors and Pervasive Minesweeper.
We apologize for the cancellation. Thanks.

Are you all ready to play?!
So it’s almost midnight on festival eve. The excitement is in the air and the games keep filling up. I think it’s going to be a great weekend. There are so many exciting games and events. I for one can’t wait to see how they all play out. See you all Friday night at Eyebeam for some Space Invaders, Guitario Kart followed by Ghost Engines and a Journey to the End of the Night.
And if you’re looking still looking for something to do, there are a few games not yet full. Ditch work early and check out Insider, the festival’s kick-off game. It’s an exciting game of devious stock trading down on Wall St.
Or stop by the opening and check out some of the pervasive games that will be taking place all weekend, like Snagu, Plundr and You Are Not Here.
