Jim Mashall, creator of the legendary Marshall amplifiers and known as "The Father of Loud", has passed away aged 88.
Marshall started his amplifier business from a garage in the early 1960s. Since then his amps have become ubiquitous, widely considered to be the ultimate producer of rock guitar sounds.
On a personal note, the band I spent many years in relied heavily on the "Marshall sound". Not only that, but we loved the "Marshall look" - a Marshall stack for each guitarist. It was beautiful.
