Convention Eligibility

Attending an AAJ Convention is an exclusive benefit provided to the following AAJ member types: Regular, Sustaining, President's Club, Life, Paralegal Affiliates, Government, Military, Retired, Law Students, Law Graduates, Law Professors, and Judicial Fellows only. In addition, State and Provincial Trial Lawyer Association Executive Directors and Staff are welcomed. Eligibility to Vote for Officers: To vote for officers at the 2006 Annual Convention, you must meet all of the following criteria:

• You are a member in good standing, which means that your dues are paid in full.
• Your dues must be paid in full 60 days prior to the start of the Convention, May 15, 2006.
• You are a voting member of AAJ, which is limited to these member categories: Regular, Life, Sustaining, President's Club, Honorary Life, or Retired Members who were formerly Regular, Life, Sustaining, or President's Club Members.

Education Program Information (MCLE/NCA Credit)

Earn approximately 35.5* MCLE and NCA credits, including 7.5 ethics credits, from 47 programs in just 5 days. If you have specific MCLE questions, please call AAJ Education at 800-622-1791 or 202-965-3500, ext. 612. Education programs will be held at the Washington State Convention & Trade Center and the Grand Hyatt Seattle.

*Number of credits may vary depending on calculation method used by accreditation agency. AAJ is a state bar of California MCLE approved provider.

Special Discounts

• Lawyers attending their first convention, who were first admitted to practice with bar dates within the past 10 years, receive a 50% discount.
• Spouse or guest of all New Lawyers (first admitted to practice with bar dates within the past 10 years) receive a 50% discount.
• Paralegals attending the convention for the first time receive a 50% discount.

• Three or more members from the same firm registering together may take advantage of a 10% discount on registration fees.

Convention Education Scholarships

A limited number of scholarships based on need will be awarded for entrance to convention education programs (scholarships are awarded to selected members in practice less than 10 years and attending a convention for the first time). To receive an application form, contact the Meetings and Conventions Department at 800-424-2725, ext. 439. Cutoff date is Friday, June 16, 2006.

Cancellation Policy

All cancellations must be submitted in writing to AAJ. Cancellations received by June 23, 2006 will be subject to a 10% cancellation fee. Cancellations received between June 24, 2006 and July 7, 2006, will be subject to a 50% cancellation fee. After July 7, 2006, requests for refunds will not be honored.

Attire

Business casual attire is recommended for the entire convention.

Exhibits/Hours

The AAJ Exposition is free to all members and nonmembers. A badge is required to visit the Exhibit Hall. Please stop by the Exhibitor Registration Desk to obtain a guest badge. Exhibits will be located in Hall 4E of the Washington State Convention & Trade Center.

A "Meet the Exhibitors" Reception will be held on Monday, July 17, 5:30 pm-6:30 pm, in the Exhibit Hall (Hall 4E of the Washington State Convention & Trade Center). All convention attendees are invited to this free reception. Exhibitors will be available to demonstrate the latest in computer technology, products, and services.

Refreshment Breaks

Complimentary refreshment breaks will be available in the Exhibit Hall (Hall 4E of the Washington State Convention & Trade Center). The daily morning break will be coffee and tea. The mid-day break on Saturday and Sunday will be box lunches. The daily afternoon break will be soft drinks. A Last Chance to Visit Exhibitors continental breakfast will be held on Tuesday morning. Attire Business attire is recommended for the entire convention.

Travel Arrangements & Hotel Reservations

Executive Travel Associates (ETA) is AAJ's Annual Convention travel agency. To request accommodations and/or air travel arrangements, visit www.justice.org/eta (fastest response). Or, return the enclosed form (also downloadable at www.justice.org/eta) by mail, fax, or e-mail to ETA (may take up to 7 days to receive a response). Requests for hotel and travel arrangements can only be accepted online or by mail, fax, or e-mail. Telephone calls are NOT accepted for hotel reservations. The cutoff date for travel and hotel reservations is Friday, June 16, 2006. ETA has negotiated special air programs for AAJ convention attendees. Significant savings are available on the following airlines: Alaska Airlines (CMR8469), American (A7676AK), and United (531SV).

NOTE: To take advantage of AAJ's discounted airfares and hotel accommodations, you MUST be registered for the AAJ convention.
