Our Framework for High Performing Schools
Based on research from Marzano, Bridgespan, MASS Insight, and the AUSL network, we have identified a framework through which we will move all of our schools to high levels of achievement. This framework can be summed up by the acronym PASSAGE. The components of PASSAGE are:
|
|
Positive School Culture
Safe and orderly school and classroom environment
Effective recruitment, attendance and discipline policies |
Action Against Adversity
Engaged parents and community partners
Proactive social supports that meet student needs |
Setting Goals and Getting it Done
Aggressive, transparent goals for schools, teams, and individuals
Performance management systems with cycles of inquiry |
Shared Responsibility for
Achievement
Strong leadership with high-functioning teams
Relentless efforts to recruit, retain, and motivate
high-quality staff |
Guaranteed and Viable Curriculum
Standards-based, college prep K-12 curriculum
Aligned assessment system that identifies student academic needs |
Engaging and Personalized Instruction
Focused professional development that ensures teacher effectiveness
Deliberate use of Danielson framework and signature strategies |
Using PASSAGE as well as the Danielson framework for teacher evaluation and AUSL’s Signature Strategies for classroom management, we have defined three actionable phases of change in our elementary schools, as summarized by the two charts below. These tools allow us to set goals, measure performance, and create plans for sustained levels of high student achievement.
