Join us on Politically Sound this week as we explore the possible intentions of Iran taking and keeping those British troops they snatched up. We talk about the continued stand off between the White House and the Congress on the funding bill.

Of course we don’t forget to mention the US attorney scandal and what this may all spell out for Attorney General Alberto Gonzales in the next few weeks. We of course continue to speculate on the Presidential race for 08. We also point out what a laughing stock John McCain has become, with his credibility in the toilet.

Throw in our usual banter and Tom Delay being Tom Delay and you have this weeks edition of Politically Sound.

We also have our thoughts with J & Pipi of the JFrancis Show, hoping they have found suitable accommodations and they are back with our little BZoO family soon!

All this week on Politically Sound & More!

IT’s a double-treat this week as Politically Sound first delves into the subjects of the week before being joined by two special guests. First up, the team covers in depth the impending showdown between Congress and the Oval Office over the political machinations that led to the firing of eight Federal Prosecuters. Somewhere between the posturing on both sides lies the truth, and we all hope that it will be brought to light soon. In the meantime we take a look at the strange and conflicting positions that the White House seems to want to hold regarding the supposed non-involvement of the President in this matter while at the same time wanting to exercise executive priviledge to ensure that no record of this lack of involvement comes to light.

We also take note of the sad news regarding the return of Elizabeth Edwards’ cancer. While it seemed a bit odd for it to become a campaign press conference, we extend our deepest sympathies to Elizabeth, John, and the rest of their family.

spacer Then onto the special guests as Politically Sound is joined by the funny and insightful JFrancis and Pipi of the JFrancis Radio Show to discuss everything from American Idol to religion. J and Pipi are a wonderful team as we are sure you all know, and if you haven’t yet had the pleasure of catching their show we strongly urge you to do so - right here at your premiere independent online radio: BZOO Homegrown Radio.

Finally the Libby verdict comes in, and it doesn’t take five minutes for people to start calling for him to be Presidentially pardoned. You’d think that maybe, just maybe, they’d want to let him go through the appeal first - but no. The sympathy for the fall guy is out there, forgetting entirely the active role he played in the Plame affair. Meanwhile, the fallout from the trial creates new questions as to whether Cheney should step down to help bolster the President’s chance of a legacy.

Yep - Pardoning the convicted and firing the unindicted couldn’t possibly do anything except make the President look good….. right? I mean, the Republicans sure held a different view of the seriousness of perjury just last decade didn’t they?

Speaking of Clinton - GOP possible Presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich finally admitted that at the same time as he was acting all appalled at the breach of “Family Values” involved in the Lewinski scandal, he was himself involved in his own extra-marital affair. Hypocrisy in Washington? Gee, that almost never happens.

Add in Hillary’s attempt to outdo Obama in Selma, the continuing wrangling in the Democratic party about how to force the end of the war in Congress, plus the usual collection of odds and ends, and you have another week’s look at the great political circus here on Politically Sound.

Don’t forget to tune into Politically Sound next week where we will have JFranics & Pippi joining us in political debate. A show not to miss!

Help Independent Internet Radio Avoid Extinction

Filed under: BZoO Radio Hotline — DJ Rg @ 10:03 am

Corporate interests are hard at working making sure you don’t have a choice because they make more money when you have no choices.

Protect Your Right To Diversity

Protect your right to hear eclectic independent radio and discover new artists. You can save Internet radio with less than five minutes of your time. Write your congressional representative today.

Pass the word to anyone you know that loves or makes music. Also, please bookmark this page and check back frequently for updates. We need your continued support and action as the situation further develops.

Tell your representative:

I do not support The Copyright Royalty Board’s (CRB) March 2nd decision to substantially increase royalty rates. Not only will it
impact my choices, but the Recording Industry Association of America’s (RIAA) manipulation of these rates, and the CRB’s indifference will hurt working artists, damage small record labels and force law abiding small webcasters, already paying a large portion of their revenue per month in royalties, out of business.
This decision will also damage hundreds of small businesses providing goods and services to working artists, small record labels and small webcasters.

I respectfully ask that you evaluate the CRB decision and do whatever is necessary to establish a reasonable royalty rate for all the parties involved.

Who, What and When

On March 2, 2006, The CRB approved royalty rates that will bury any small webcaster, and create a heavy burden even for big broadcasters like Yahoo, AOL Music and Pandora.
How high will these rates be? Around 100% of a small webcasters revenue, give or take
a few points, in most cases. What?! That’s impossible to pay! Yep, it sure is..

How did this happen? The RIAA told the CRB thats what they wanted, and the CRB just gave it to them.

Your’re probably thinking, hey that’s awful, but who are the the RIAA and CRB?

RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) is a lobbying group formed by the five largest record labels. They are embedded in Washington D.C.
They make sure laws are written to keep them rich, no matter what. They made headlines a few years ago opening lawsuits
against elderly people, single mothers and children for trading music online, even though some of them didn’t even have computers. Check out the
latest RIAA headlines.

The CRB (Copyright Royalty Board) is part of the US Copyright Office. The Board is charged with determining the royalty rates that
would be determined by a willing buyer and a willing seller in a marketplace transaction. They decided to jack the rates beyond a broadcasters means
despite decades of royalty rates being 1 - 2% of broadcaster revenue.

Raise your right hand if you want to take away consumer choice, hurt working artists, damage small record labels and put small webcasters out of business.

Homegrown Programme 69

This programme is a compilation of my audio blogs from 24th Feb till 5th March
2007
while I was participating in the Slam Idol Open Writing Challenge. The premise
of the
competition is to get 6 poets to create an original poem over 10 days, while
audio blogging
their creative process and progress.

You can find out more about the competition by following the link below to the
Slam Idol website
and listening to the other competitors. I had a great deal of fun and a little
frustration in creating
my poem, which took up quite a bit of time. Hence no typical Homegrown this
week. But I hope
you enjoy this all poetry programme and insight into my own creative process.

There will soon be a voting process on Slam Idol to find listeners favourite
poem.
