Testimonials

Each event I attend helps me better understand what it means to be in a family business.

Syracuse, NY

I think this is the best dinner meeting by far! Dr. Norton is an excellent speaker and very engaging.

East Syracuse, NY

The issues and topics we discuss are specific to family-owned businesses and while my family has been very proactive in estate planning, succession planning, etc.  I have found the discussions useful.  They challenge my thinking on family involvement in our business and how to structure the organization in the future.  It has also provided the push to address difficult and sensitive topics.  The biggest value comes from the members as we are the ones facing the day-to-day challenges of family in business.

I loved the meeting today, I am getting so much motivation out of them.

I just wanted everyone to know how much you and this organization has helped me.  I have had a lot of ups and downs the past couple of years and I know there are many more to come, but knowing that I have the support and confidence of our roundtables makes me feel great!  Not to mention I know my confidence has gone up tremendously since I started attending meetings, listening and talking, giving & getting advice from my peers.

I think every FB can learn from each other in a very efficient manner through the roundtables and events of the NYFBC. The larger companies are great sources of information for us "smalls" as to how they have developed their organization to include both family members and non-family members. And the multi-generational businesses have helps newer businesses by explaining how they have handled the passing of assets through generations.

I think that's one of the amazing benefits of the NYFBC, every size business can learn from others. By carving out time to attend the seminars and events FBs can learn what may be coming down the road for them and hopefully begin to start thinking differently before the new situations arrive. While at the same time G4 and G6 businesses can be gathering to mastermind and learn from eachother due to the centers collaborative nature

During the time that we have been members, The Family Business Center has been an important contributor to the success of our family’s human resource consulting business, HR One.  My father Robert Banuski and I have been introduced to concepts and strategies that have made both our day-to-day functions and business transition discussions easier.  We also learned that a family business impacts family members who are not actively involved in the business and we have started including these family members in our business conversations.

While we have been assisted by outside consultants who present at Family Business Center events, it is the interaction with other family businesses that provides such great value and insight.  I actively participate in a monthly meeting with other second generation family business members where we enjoy learning from one another.

I would strongly encourage any family business to join the Family Business Center.

Jason Banusk, PHR
HR One

"I have found the New York Family Business Center to be extremely valuable to my family, and my company.  We have had family members from 3 generations, as well as a large number of company and family office staff, attend NYFBC events.  In our experience, the speakers are quite good, but the dialog between different Family Businesses is what is most valuable.  These events allow honest, open exchanges of people in similar situations, where best practices can be discussed.  Donna and her team do a great job!".

NYFBC provides an ideal platform to discuss the challenges and successes of family business with other family businesses in a supportive environment.
