Participants will explore creating visual scenes with concrete detail, illustrating conflict and emotion, conveying intimacy and vulnerability, and the search for meaning … and the difficult balance of embracing the art and craft of writing while remaining true to your voice.
Workshop Your Story! – essays or memoirs in progress will be discussed with an eye toward possibilities for revision in an intimate workshop setting. Participants may submit an 8-page, double-spaced manuscript to share with other members.

NOTE FROM KATHY:
I will be speaking at the Sunday Salon in Huntsville, Alabama, March 11: “Memoir: Writing from Memory — Tell It Real and Tell It Slant.”
I will be teaching two workshops at the Southern Literary Festival at Lipscomb University, Nashville, March 30 and 31. My classes are composed of students from 35 colleges around the South.
I will be teaching at the Alabama Writers Conclave July 20-22 — looking forward to going back to Alabama to lead three sessions!
And what’s this about Creative Nonfiction at The Crossroads? Down in the Delta, the land of the blues, the land of my birth! Oh yeah! Save the date: September 21-22.
I will be co-directing the Oxford Creative Nonfiction Conference in Oxford, Mississippi, in the spring of 2013.
