Setzer Student Center


The Setzer Student Center (SSC) is provided for coordination for beneficial and extracurricular activities for students, faculty and staff of Lamar University and Lamar Institute of Technology, recreation and cultural development; the cultivation of more responsible local, state, and national citizenship, for an intelligent interest in, and deeper affection for the University. It is a program dedicated to uniting the constituencies served by the University.

The SSC named for late Dr. Richard W. Setzer, university president (1967-1969), is the center of campus activities at Lamar. This $2.8 million structure opened in spring of 1971.

Whether your goal is to earn a degree or to take classes for personal and professional development, Setzer Student Center would like to be a part of your life while you're at Lamar University. The purpose of the Setzer Student Center is to provide services and programs to help you achieve your goals in a hospitable and supportive environment.
