**In no way is this a comprehensive list of all restaurants in Buenos Aires, just many of the ones I have tried and reviewed.  In a dream world, I would be able to review everything on the menu at every single restaurant to make a more scientific classification.  BUT since I’m poor making pesos, and I’m not <yet> 500 kilos, it’s just not possible.  I do, however, accept free meals.**

Recommendations are accepted! Don’t be stingy. Share the food knowledge.

Mangiatta! On the corner of Avenido Angel Gallardo y Valentin Virasoro. Very de barrio, very good. My favorite: fettucine casero con salsa CREMA. Simple, but the best crema anywhere. I wouldn’t recommend the meat, but it isn’t bad. If you like milanesa, mejor no hay! Also: the Pizzanesa!

Check out the parrilla Desnivel. I had one of my favorite meals in Argentina at that place.

Defensa 855 ; between Independencia and Estados Unidos

I should probably clarify this, since I did say one of my “favorites”. This is not a fancy parrilla, with damn good menu pricing for killer food. Weird decor, looks pretty old inside, most everything is glossy (floor, tablecloths, chairs, pictures) giving the interior an odd sheen. Two stories, we sat in the front and got to watch them funnel somebody upstairs every minute or so. Really popular and pretty crowded, but we went pretty late and didn’t have to wait for a 2 top.

Had chorizo, morcilla, and lomo… Jeeeezus. Papas were solid, and I believe smothered in something (but I may be getting spots mixed up with that call). They were out of many of the wine bottles on the list, which was fine because I was playing roulette with the menu anyway. But, I guess if you’re really into wine that could be a big deal. For me, I just liked to have a nice malbec with some body while visiting, and that wasn’t very tough to find.

Enjoy. Remember, though, this place isn’t La Cabrera… good character though.

Desnivel is great, but the quality of meat has definitely decreased a bit.. it’s been a while so I’m due for another visit soon. Chorizo, lomo y papas = happy
