Mobile is here. But HOW? Businesses considering developing mobile apps are faced with developing for multiple platforms and the onerous approval process. But there are alternatives and this post over at at Mashable Mobile and all the ensuing commentary, is probably one of the most balanced conversation on the topic I’ve seen. Says Kevin Nakao “despite what the marketing would lead you to believe, consumers use the mobile web just as much as apps.” I’m grooving on this – and though the jury is out, I’m watching this closely. Because you may well be able to accomplish all you need by building a mobile web site. There are drawbacks but they are minor. No push notifications on the Iphone for instance, and no ability to use Itunes to pay. But not everyone has an Itunes account. Before jumping into mobile with both feet check out the post, it will be worth your while.
