Hospitality

There are Koh Tao accommodation choices for all budgets, with traditional shacks on the sand sharing space with five star hotels. Haad Sairee is the longest and most developed beach, boasting the majority of Koh Tao restaurants and bars. But there are new resorts developing all over the island, including Chalok Baan Kao towards the south which is growing in popularity. An array of international dining choices mirrors the European make-up of Koh Tao’s diving fraternity, while Thai spas and beauty parlours offer some pampering after an active day on the ocean.

Highlights

The undoubted highlight of Koh Tao is the diving around its gorgeous coastline, with White Rock, Sailrock and the Chumphon Pinnacle the best know scuba sites. But the island is also blessed with lots of lovely snorkelling spots, especially Mango Bay, Aow Luek, Tanote Bay and Freedom Beach. Picturesque Koh Ngan Yuan lies just offshore and is actually three small islands connected by a sandbar, whilst inland there are opportunities for trekking, rock climbing and visiting viewpoints which gaze over the Thai Gulf.
