This is the prototype for the pre-engineered system known as the itHouse that has had much acclaim. The house is off-grid, powered by solar panels for energy and hot water, and is located in a pristine remote valley in the beautiful California high desert. The house observes key green principals of smaller footprint, minimal disturbance to the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape, use of renewable resources, and living simply and minimally.
Located in Pioneertown, CA, nearby several unique attractions, Joshua Tree National Park, Pappy and Harriets Pioneertown Palace, local museums and art venues such as the Noah Purifoy Outdoor Desert Art Museum, the Integratron, and other seasonal events.
The setting of the house is remote and serene, a quiet refuge from the city, free from distractions. Amazing views and vistas in all directions.
Intentionally there is no television and no wifi so that one can truly experience being in a place of extreme natural beauty, and take note of the play of light and shadow, and other natural phenomena.
Perfect for design or green aficionados, writers or those needing a secluded getaway.
Great modern escape in the middle of the desert. It is set in an area that is in many ways as beautiful as in Joshua tree NP itself. Relaxing, restful and well designed.

We are from the UK, & part of the design community there. We loved this house! thought it was beautifully integrated into the landscape & very highly finished & furnished. The amazing landscape was fully exploited. Just to sit & look, at any time of day or night, is just a joy. We both felt amazement at the fact that solar energy was so little in evidence in this area & we were very pleased to see that it was used so well here, without any problems whatsoever. I wish I lived nearer, so that I could go back whenever I wished. Great experience - so generous of Taalman Koch to let others share this place. Thank you both.
This house was a unique, comfortable, and lovely way to escape city-life. The view is spectacular, and the house is suitable for either a romantic getaway for a couple or a fun adventure for a small group of people who appreciate good design and alternative energy. I plan to return!

The off grid house in Pioneertown was the highlight of our accomodations through California. It was just what we needed and dreamt off after ten days of city and trekking experiences before continuing to LA and NY. We enjoed the complet calmness, fantastic view and great comfort in this very carefully concieved and most beautiful modern house with independently and perfect working sustainable energy. A masterpiece of architecture, where we felt immediately at home, appreciating the natural ventilation through the gliding glassdoors, the game of light and shadow, the pure styling in the rooms, the comfort of a dishwasher on solar energy or the real linnen in bed, while looking at the milkyways... The system entering with codes worked perfectly. Due to traffic jam we arrived in the dark and had a hard time to find the lost place. A little color on the last indication sign ev. with a solar lamp would certainly help to find the way. To everybody who estimates modern and intelligent design and looks for a completely off grid time, will love this place. We will hopefully be back some day but certainly never forget this place with Lindas great spirit!
