Solo Harp

 

Amanda started playing the harp when she 6 years old after being mesmerised by Harpo Marx on tv. After many years of requesting a harp, she finally arrived home from Brownies to her wish….

Her classical teachers included Gillian Green, Ann Griffiths and Caryl Thomas and Amanda has been extremely fortunate to take part in masterclasses with the following:

Marisa Robles, Elizabeth Fonton-Binoche, Tatiana Tauer, Kathleen Bride, Deborah Henson-Conant (jazz), Daphne Boden, Isabelle Morretti, Park Stickney, Osian Ellis, Helen Davies, David Watkins and Edward Witesenburg…

Amanda continues to study jazz harp with Park Stickney.

History

1992 Accepted into Wells Cathedral Music School where she was the first harpist to obtain a scholarship as a specialist musician.

1995 Became a National Eisteddfod winner

1995 Won the Nansi Richards Scholarship.

2000 Obtained her LRSM from the Associated Board of Music

2000 Accepted on to Yehudi Menuhin’s Live Music

Over the last 10 years, Amanda has performed at countless concerts across the country and abroad, including the South Bank in London, St David’s Hall in Cardiff and cruise ships. Concertos have included flute and harp (Mathias and Mozart) Debussy Danses, Ravel and more recently “Danger Zone” in the Caernarfon Harp Festival.

As a Soloist

…..Amanda has given many recitals and has a large repertoire, available on request.

In 2009 Amanda was the Harpist to High Sheriff of South Glamorgan.

In April 2010 Amanda was invited to perform Deborah Henson Conant’s concerto ‘Danger Zone’ in the Caernarfon Harp Festival.

In September 2010 Amanda was the resident harpist at The Ryder Cup at the Celtic Manor Resort in Newport, Wales. During the week she performed an intimate concert with X Factor’s Rhydian.
