Concrete aeration bunkers keep the compost cool and microbes active as it breaks down over 30 days.
Computer systems are used to manage temperature and record data for quality assurance.
Aeration Blowers push or pull air from the piles, to treat for odors and keep the piles at proper temperatures to eradicate germs.

Garden Compost Makes Everything Green Again: Dark, Rich, And Full Of Life
Compost Testing
Garden Blendz Compost is tested every 2 months for product nutrients, stability, sanitation, and safety under health department permit requirements and the US Composting Council’ s national Seal of Testing Assurance or STA Program. This assures that the tests are done properly and that the results are made available to any customer that requests them. Call 360-770-8564 and we will fax or email the most current test results to you.
How is Green Blendz Made?
Feedstocks come fresh from local gardens and landscapes to our composting site east of Stanwood on Highway 532. We grind, mix and water the feedstocks to initiate rapid decomposition and preserve the nutrients for the bacteria to thrive on. We make batches of 600 cubic yards and place them into concrete bays with air channels in the floor. Temperature probes are placed in the pile, sending signals to a computer which tell the aeration blowers to change speeds or reverse the airflow thus controlling temperatures and oxygen within the piles. Temperatures exceed 140 degrees Fahrenheit for weeks, killing weeds and pathogens, and rapidly breaking down the original materials. After 2 or three weeks the pile is turned into another bay to stabilize with air control. They are placed in to a curing pile for another month and then are ready to be screened for your use.
