The idea.

Salt of the Earth is a collaboration between chef Kevin Sousa and architects Doug and Liza Cruze. The thought was to provide an exceptional dining experience without all the unnecessary pretense and added cost of conventional “fine dining.” The space, food, and service reflect our views on what we think a creative American restaurant can be.

Food.

The menu consists of core items that will be available daily throughout the season. In addition, there is a rotating cast of items that will change weekly to further take advantage of local and seasonal product procured in its prime. We offer vegetarian options that reflect those more omnivorous in nature as well as a modest selection of desserts.

Drink.

We offer an eclectic list of wines available by the glass, a selection of fine draft beer, and craft cocktails designed to complement the seasonality of the food.

Hours.

Monday through Saturday, 5 pm – midnight for dinner, closing at 1am. Closed Sunday.

Seating & reservations.

We offer several types of dining. The first floor has three large communal tables and two counters—one in front of the exposed kitchen and the other at the cocktail bar— all of which are first-come, first-served. Our private dining room, which can accommodate parties of sixteen or fewer, and mezzanine level is reservation-only.

Parking.

Parking is available in our lot. Also, there is ample, well-lit street parking on Penn and Stratford avenues.
