E-Mail Distribution Lists
The Capital PC User Group provides e-mail lists for distributing and sharing information. An e-mail list uses subscribers' names and e-mail addresses to simultaneously send messages or announcements to a group of people sharing a common interest. Some CPCUG lists are for information distribution only. These are known as announcement lists, and have names ending with the suffix "-A." Postings can be made only by the listowner or a listowner-designated editor. Other lists, known as discussion lists, are open for subscriber posting. They have names ending with the suffix "-D." List archives are available for all CPCUG lists. If you have access to e-mail, you can get started exploring CPCUG mailing lists right away! LISTSERV®, the registered trade name for the most popular and sophisticated e-mail list management software on the market, makes it easy for even the newest computer user to join these lists. You can join and leave lists at any time, or even sign off temporarily when you will be away from your computer for an extended period, such as during a vacation. ACCESSSIG-A (CPCUG Access SIG Announcements) There are other CPCUG lists open only to members participating as volunteers in the various activities that run CPCUG. Subscription is by permission of the appropriate member of the CPCUG Board of Directors.

If the LISTSERV® software, however, receives no response from you within 48 hours, the confirmation request expires, resulting in the expiration and failure of your subscription request.) Changing Your Subscription E-Mail Address To change an e-mail address by which you are subscribed to a list, first subscribe again via e-mail using your new e-mail address, and then signoff via e-mail (if you still have your old e-mail address) or via the Web interface from the list subscription that uses your old address. If you haven't yet registered an e-mail address and password combination on this domain, do it now by clicking "Get Password." (A password that you registered on another L-Soft LISTSERV Web interface page will not work at listserv.cpcug.org, unless you register it again.) After selecting and submitting a password, check your e-mail account for password registration information. You must register your password, as explained in the e-mail, within 48 hours, or you'll need to start the process of obtaining a password again. Once you've registered your password, return to listserv.cpcug.org, and click on Log In. After you've logged in, click on Subscriber's Corner in line 3 at the top of the screen, and you can modify (or even delete) your subscription(s) as desired. Using List Archives After you've logged in, click on Email Lists (in the second line at the top of the screen). Type the exact list name (from the list available near the top of this screen) into the box near the bottom of the Email Lists screen (you may have to scroll down to view the box). Click Submit (at right). Now you can view messages by month, or use Search Archives under Options. Tip: CPCUG Lists Hosted on Other Web Sites dcrobotics | netsig-l
