» I Heart Paws April 2007 POM- Lissa's Minnow
By Super Admin | Published 04/1/2007 | * PET OF THE MONTH * | Rating:spacer spacer spacer spacer spacer
spacer My name is Minnow and I am a majestic Blue Point Siamese - I am undoubtedly the best cat this planet has ever seen. If you must know I am 4 years old but I'd like to stress that I have 8 of my 9 lives.

I spend my days prowling and guarding MY house because we all know how useless the canine is. He spends most of the day sleeping, leaving me to do all the work! I don't mind too much because he grooms me everyday - my personal spa (I just need to train him NOT to stop)... Aside from prowling I live to antagonize every member of the house - its most successful on the canine as it wheedles him into chasing me! The humans of the house aren't so bad, especially when looking for a cozy place to sleep, a ride on their back or a lift into the cupboards. However, as always some improvements still need to be made, for instance, no more premium diets!!! I am not sure about you but I like - no I need my junk food - the premium crap is too healthy!

Why Dry Dog Food Might Not Be Best For Your Dog By Lee Dobbins
ByChristina Harvey | Published03/24/2007 | Pet Nutrition , Food & Diets | Unrated
spacer Dry dog food has been recommended as the best diet for dogs, however this is quite untrue. While dry dog food can be included in your dog's diet in a limited way, most products are very high in simple carbohydrates, relatively low in protein and of inferior nutritional quality. Furthermore, it is very bad for dogs to eat food that doesn't contain natural moisture.

What Are The Top Ten Dog Diseases? By Robert G. Knechtel
ByChristina Harvey | Published03/12/2007 | General Pet Articles | Rating:spacer spacer spacer spacer spacer
spacer Dog Diseases number in the scores, just as in humans. But, veterinarians tend to see some much more than others. Sadly, a great deal of grief could be avoided if more dog owners were careful to see that their pets are immunized regularly against preventable dog diseases.

Newfoundland Dog
ByBreed Profiles | Published03/11/2007 | Dog Breed Profiles | Rating:spacer spacer spacer spacer spacer
spacer The Newfoundland is one of the few dogs native to North America. There are three schools of thought on the origin of the breed. The first is that newfies descended from the large, black "bear dogs" introduced by the Vikings in 1001 A.D. By the time that colonization was permitted in 1610, the distinct physical characteristics and mental attributes had been established in the breed.

Alaskan Malamute
ByBreed Profiles | Published03/8/2007 | Dog Breed Profiles | Rating:spacer spacer spacer spacer spacer
spacer Alaskan Malamutes are one of the most unaltered of breeds; breeders and owners alike make sure to preserve the Malamutes working abilities. Alaskan Malamutes are known to be beautiful, intelligent, dignified and affectionate. Malamutes are often mistaken for wolves, but they are not wolves and are not part wolf.

Malamutes are adaptable dogs that can acclimate to their environment, but be mind full of where the dog is from and watch for signs of heat stress. Like any dog, Malamutes need a constant supply of water and shade.
