FIERCE Releases New Our SPOT Survey!

Help FIERCE further Our SPOT Campaign for an amazing youth center in the West Village.

We want to hear from you!  What are your experiences?  What issues are you facing?  What would you like to see in a 24-hour LGBTQ youth center?

In 2008, FIERCE launched "Our SPOT" (Save Place to Organize Together), a campaign dedicated to getting a 24 hour youth drop-in center in the West Village, a historically safe space for LGBTQ youth.

FIERCE is currently working with the Urban Justice Center to identify the needs of LGBTQ youth through a fabulous survey.

FIERCE wants to know what services LGBTQ youth would like to see in a 24 hour LGBTQ Youth Center.

We also hear about why the West Village is important to you, and the main issues facing LGBTQ Youth.

Click here to fill out the survey!

And after you're finished, forward the link to a friend!

Guided by our three-year strategic plan, we were able increase FIERCE's impact and reach locally and nationally. We are pleased to share this summary of our 2009-2012 strategic plan, as well as our achievements in the first year of forwarding our four strategic priorities.

Coming Out, Stepping Up:
Organizing to build the power of LGBTQ youth

 spacer

In the summer of 2009, FIERCE conducted a national LGBTQ youth needs assessment to identify the major challenges facing LGBTQ youth and to assess strategies used to address these challenges.

Coming Out, Stepping Up summarizes key findings from the survey and provides recommendations for how organizations can strengthen their work to build a more effective LGBTQ youth movement.

The report is being released in conjunction with FIERCE's first national LGBTQ Youth of Color Organizing Summit, which will bring together 30 youth from 13 organizations across the country to build their organizing skills.  The summit is a critical opportunity for youth of color to share approaches on how they can build their political power and shape the direction of LGBTQ youth organizing and its relationship to the LGBTQ movement.
