Sift Update - October 2006 3 October 2006 Introduction | Sift Software | Sift Media | PracticeWEB A busy summer here at Sift with two acquisitions in June, the larger of the two being Virtual Business Network Limited (VBN), a Cambridge based business with 60 clients, which like Sift provides solutions for publishers, the public sector, associations and charities. July saw Sift Media add KnowledgeBoard (www.knowledgeboard.com) to its growing portfolio of online publishing titles. KnowledgeBoard is one of the leading European online forums which styles itself as a global community thinking and collaborating on subjects around Knowledge Management and Innovation in the worlds of business and academia! Sift Media has been wanting to have more digital assets to work with and this is an exciting start. I've also been participating on Bristol's bid development group for the government's Digital Challenge (www.digitalchallenge.gov.uk), which is a 7m prize, for the development of society "at ease in the digital world". Bristol heard in July that it's through to the last 10 cities, which means that we've now got 120k to develop the bid further. More information at the Connecting Bristol site: www.connectingbristol.org. If you want to know more about any of the developments listed below please get in touch, either directly, or with your usual contact at Sift. Best wishes, Ben Heald Sift Software New clients recently include 3CResearch, Birdlife, Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP), Employee Benefits (Centaur), Envirolink and YMCA; and we've recently launched sites for Marketing Week (Centaur), The Kennel Club, Hedge Fund Manager Week (Pageant) and a revamped site for Flying Colours Egypt to promote the International GSE (IGCSE) qualification. For those of you who missed our two seminars earlier in the year, we're hosting another one on Tuesday 24th October at 76 Portland Place, London entitled "Success in a Web 2.0 world" www.sift.com/item/526. Sift Unity 8.0 was launched over the summer. The engineers are now working on this winter's release, which will see enhancements to workflow, more social networking tools and a rewrite of the jobs module. We've increased the size of the Technical Support team to help us handle VBN customer queries and minor site amendments. The team have done really well in coping with learning the new platform and we have had some extremely positive feedback from VBN customers and the VBN Account Manager Helen Triggs - so well done guys!
