spacer KOVAK are a Brighton based combo who formed in 2008 with a shared love of bleeps and noises. Comprising of Annelies Van de Velde (vocals), Karl Bray (guitars), Darren Bray (drums) and Martin White (keyboards), they were recently spotted supporting TOYAH in their home town alongside TENEK.

Their current single Killer Boots was also played by on Dave Charles’ radio show during The Electricity Club’s guest spot. Killer Boots is cooing new wave electropop with an immediately catchy Italo vibe while the video is appropriately decadent and sexy. More Inside>>

TEC002 Preview: A Short Conversation with MARSHEAUX

spacer The Electricity Club are extremely pleased to have MARSHEAUX headlining its second live event TEC002 on SUNDAY 29TH APRIL 2012 at Ballyhoo (formally The Bowery) in London. It will be MARSHEAUX first London gig since 2009 and is sure to be one of the highlights of this year’s electronic music calendar.

Comprising of Marianthi Melitsi and Sophie Sarigiannidou, the name MARSHEAUX is actually derived from the first syllable of each of their names. Originally from Thessaloniki, the girls moved to Athens and came together to further their appreciation of electronic pop music. Brought up to the sound of the synthesizer and learning to dance to the beat of electronic drums, Marianthi and Sophie lived on a healthy diet of DEPECHE MODE, HUMAN LEAGUE, OMD, SPARKS, SOFT CELL, DURAN DURAN and NEW ORDER.

Introducing INJE

spacer Hailing from Belgrade and featuring the nucleus of vocalist Jelena Miletić and instrumentalist Jovan Vesić, INJE have had the pleasure of supporting HURTS and FAITHLESS in their home country as well as being invited to play at Exit, one of Serbia’s most prestigious festivals for three years consecutively.

spacer HARD CORPS are an act who today clearly enjoy a cult status even though they only released one album and a handful of singles during their active years from 1983 to 1990. Their classic songs like Je Suis Passée and To Breathe are still played frequently in Swedish electro clubs but the band themselves are still little known to most people.

spacer The Electricity Club will DJing at Hit Factory Live featuring STEPS, JASON DONOVAN, RICK ASTLEY, DEAD OR ALIVE, BANANARAMA, PEPSI & SHIRLIE, HAZELL DEAN, BROTHER BEYOND, SINITTA and SONIA on Wednesday 11th July 2012 in London’s Hyde Park.

The surprise invitation was made by Pete Waterman via his representatives following a recommendation by Shirlie Holliman aka Mrs Martin Kemp from PEPSI & SHIRLIE who had met The Electricity Club’s team at Return To The Blitz Club in January 2011. More inside>>
