What is liquorpress.com?

liquorpress.com is a web project based on the German spirits and liquor blog www.eyeforspirits.com. It deals with different spirit subjects like tastings, events and news. One topic liquorpress as well as eyeforspirits places great value on is the scientific background of the several spirit production steps.

Who are we?

Philip Reim

spacer Philip studied chemistry and biology at the university of Regensburg and the university of Jena, Germany. During his studies he graduated at Barschule München, a bartender school in Munich. After writing a scientific work about “The chemistry of whisk(e)y”, and submitting whisky articles for famous German spirits and bar magazines, he founded the German spirits blog eyeforspirits.com.

Erhard Ruthner

spacer Erhard is the owner of a spirit and delicatessen shop in Vienna, Austria, offering  rum, gin, whisky and a lot of other spirits. He frequently holds tastings about all kinds of spirits and writes about his experiences of the spirit scene and about famous and unknown spirit countries and islands. His articles  about American whiskey or Rhum agricole published on eyeforspirits.com are among the most clicked articles on this blog.

Christoph Rafeld

spacer Christoph is the one for all things about vodka on liquorpress.com. For his passion of vodka and his work as CEO of Novospirt Ltd. he became the official representative of the Russian republic of Mordovia. He submits articles not only about vodka itself, but also about vodka in Russian literature, its meaning for Russian society and its importance in Russian history.

Paul Hletko

spacer Paul Hletko is the founder and master distiller for Few Spirits, a distillery located in Evanston, Illinois.  Few Spirits is the first legal distillery ever in Evanston, and only the second distillery in Cook County in the last 80 years.  Few Spirits produces gin and whiskies, including bourbon, rye, and will introduce an American single malt in the future. Paul Hletko can be found at fewspirits.com, @fewspirits on Twitter, or Few Spirits on Facebook.  Although he is friendly with many of the distillers and distilleries mentioned, he is not involved in any of their companies.

Philipp Windgassen

spacer Philipp runs a small import and distribution company in Munich, Germany. He has been actively participating in the spirits business for several years, meeting many people and tasting many different spirits. His articles draw on his in-the-biz experience and provide an insight into this line of business from the point of view of a small company. He is a passionate connoisseur of rum, cognac, whiskey and various high-quality spirits.
