A few notes on organising parties for geeks;
No matter what advice you're given or what's been recommended to you, the only way to spend a couple of thousand quid is BEER, BEER, BEER. Next time we'll forget the canapes and cut to the chase; enough booze to sink a battleship. So apologies to those of you who missed out - I know there were many more (probably about 249 of you ;)
Andy Mitchell's post about the dconstruct party and visiting Brighton deserves a special mention; well worth the read :)
We had 39 takers for the geek golf tournament which is a pretty respectable turn-out. I had 14 score-cards returned to me, so without further ado, the results are as follows:
Ollie Ashford: 39
Tom Anthony: 42
Bob Browne: 42
David Singleton: 43
Tom Coady: 45
Alan Bradburn: 46
Ian Kershaw: 48
Ross Bruniges: 49
Ross Tweedie: 52
Paul Silver: 53
Ivan Pope: 57
Marko: 60
Dominic Mitchell: a respectable 0xFF
Ben Steele: So large he gave up counting ("massive")
Apologies for the slightly chaotic nature of the organisation; the fact that people had to leave at different times meant we weren't able to have the geek-out round to decide the winner from the top 5 scorers, so based purely on crazy-golf prowess, Ollie Ashford wins himself a Snipperoo skate deck. Tom A, Bob, David and Tom C are our runners-up prize winners. I'll get everyone's addresses from Clearleft and your prizes will be in the post. Well done!

"Any hint what the runner up (loser) prize will be?." - let's say it will have a Brighton theme and also a poignant reminder of what you could have won...

Tom Anthony will be bloody ecstatic to have beaten me!
Thanks for organising it guys, great fun. I'd agree keep the nibbles and lets everyone sort out thier own beer.

I'd like to thank my mum, and dad and of course doG without whom....
Great conference guys, lovely to meet some of you and obviously very happy to be rolling away with a new deck.
Hooray for the teaching benefits of flash Miniput!

Wow - I thought I wasn't even in the running for the top slots! Wahoo! I'm going to train all year -- there had better be golf again at the next d.Construct!
Thanks again for organising a brilliant after party, it was a lot of fun and you did a great job. :)

Hold on a minute. Since a) an 80% male crowd will always exhaust your free bar (it's like a challenge) and b) they'll keep buying beer even after the tab has run out, I'd always vote for investing in food!

Damnit, if only I hadn't had that third pint before playing... I might have come ninth. Well done on the great idea, and the beer lasted longer than I expected given how many people were there.
