A mother
I became a mom for the first time on Mother’s Day 2009 when we found out our Bella Rose was on the way. That September our world came crashing down around us. I was 20 weeks pregnant when our plans, our dreams, and our future were whisked away in an instant at the loss of our baby girl.
Now a mom to our 2nd daughter, Brielle I often find myself staring in awe and wonderment as she explores her world. Brie is the typical busy bee that comes with toddlerhood. Brielle is my constant reminder that life is so much sweeter when you can view it through the eyes of a child.
A professional photographer
My first baby gift given to me during my first pregnancy was a shiny new camera. A Nikon d90 DSLR. A camera that I longed to learn to use like the pros so I could take beautiful images of our baby Bella once she arrived. Instead, I used it to re-discover my world and process my grief after she was gone. In the process of learning to live without Bella, I opened a photography studio capturing family portraits and teaching families the importance of preserving memories. Now I’m combining my passion for photography, my love of teaching, and my belief in using art to heal the soul.
A teacher
By day you’ll find me in a computer lab at an elementary school showing teachers and students how to incorporate 21st century technology to creatively enhance their curriculum. My day is not complete until seeing the “ah ha” light bulb moments in my students, both adults and kids alike.
A people lover (+watcher)
I graduated from the College of William and Mary in 2003 a dual degree in both Personality Psychology and Education. I love meeting new people and working to bring a little joy back into someone’s life.
