The
UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot Protein Knowledgebase is an annotated protein
sequence database established in 1986.
The UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot Protein Knowledgebase is a curated protein
sequence database that provides a high level of annotation, a minimal
level of redundancy and a high level of integration with other databases.
Together with UniProtKB/TrEMBL, it constitutes the UniProt Knowledgebase,
one component of the Universal Protein Resource (UniProt), a one-stop
shop allowing easy access to all publicly available information about
protein sequences.
It is maintained
collaboratively by the
Swiss Institute for Bioinformatics (SIB) and the European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI).
The UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot group is headed by: Rolf
Apweiler.
Access the UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot Database
SRS - is the easiest and simplest method available to quickly access the UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot sequence database.
UniProt Power Search - Provides full text, advanced search, set manipulation and search filtering on the Universal Protein Resource.
ExPASY
The ExPASy (Expert Protein Analysis
System) proteomics server of the Swiss
Institute of Bioinformatics (SIB) is dedicated to
the analysis of protein sequences and structures as well
as 2-D PAGE.

UniProt
UniProt (Universal Protein Resource) is a central repository of protein sequence and function created by joining the information contained in UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot, UniProtKB/TrEMBL, and PIR.
UniProtKB/
TrEMBL
A protein sequence database of nucleotide translated sequences.
The UniProtKB/TrEMBL sequence database contains the translations of all coding sequences (CDS) present in the DDBJ/EMBL/GenBank Nucleotide Sequence Database and also protein sequences extracted from the literature or submitted to UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot, which are not yet integrated into UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot.
GOA
GOA is a project that aims to provide assignments of gene products to the Gene Ontology (GO) resource.
The goal of the GO Consortium is to produce a dynamic controlled vocabulary that can be applied to all organisms.
